Chouette
A traditional Breton "longere" conveniently situated 100 miles from the ports of Cherbourg and Caen and 45 miles from St Malo and dinard airport. 5 miles to Junction 32 access to A84. This fully restored south facing property is on a very private site in excess of an acre and is 1 mile from the village of Le Ferre. It is made from granite with walls of about 3 feet thick. It was originally built about 1694 and extended in 1820 and 1850. It retains many original features such as beams and fireplaces, sloping ceilings and nooks and cranies. There are 5 bedrooms, 1 ensuite, 2 with basins and 2 twin rooms on the ground floor.There is also a separate shower room and toilet on the ground floor. It can sleep 10 plus 2 cots. The property has 4 sets of doors on the front. The first leads you into the kitchen/dining room with a beamed ceiling and tiled floor. It has a fully fitted kitchen with a dishwasher. There is a table for seating 6-8 and 2 armchairs in front of the woodburing fire. It has a large fridge/freezer plus a 2nd built in fridge, electric oven, gas hob, mircowave and washing machine.
The lounge is a generous 21ft by 18ft. It has exposed stone walls and a beamed ceiling with a working fireplace and woodburner. There is ample seating for 12 people with UK television, dvd and video, tapes and discs supplied. Also an extensive collection of books for all the family. Off the lounge is a small sun room with patio doors leading out to the garden, pool and patio.
The DINING ROOM is 20ft x 17ft. It has stone walls, beamed ceilings and large grandite fireplace with a woodburner. There is a dining table for seating 12, a sofa and 2 archairs.
Glazed doors lead into the magnificent GAMES ROOM , 25ft x 20ft. It has a pool table, table football, , playarea for children with games and playtent etc. There is a small bar with optics and bar stools - please bring your own alcohol though. The room has huge exposed wooden beams and the whole area can be viewed from the mezzanine gallery above. It has a leather chesterfield sofa, chair and stools. There is a tv with a ps1 - gmaes supplied.
The MEZZANINE is 20ft x 16ft and is an ideal seating area for relaxing or watching TV (uk). It has a great view of the games room below. There is a double sofa bed if required and single folding bed. There are 2 staircases in the house, on one side are 2 DOUBLE bedrooms, 1 with twin beds, and the bathroom with toilet. Both bedrooms have their own washbasins - so no queue to brush teeth in the morning! There is room for a cot.
The MAIN BEDROOM is approached from the other staircase in the kitchen and is a double with an en suite shower and toilet it has views over the gardens to the front, side, rear and swimming pool.
There are 2 COTS available - 1 fixed and 1 travel but they must be booked in advance - there is no charge. We also supply a highchair and stairgates, baby bath and changing mat at no charge.
BEDROOM 4 is a twin room located on the ground floor off the sun room and is suitable for wheel chairs users or the elderly as it is opposite the shower room and toilet.
BEDROOM 5 is a twin bedroom off the games room on the ground floor. A good sized with lots of character, chest of drawers, bedside table, wardrobe and shelves.
The gardens cover over 1 1/2 acres and are landscaped with trees and shrubs. It is laid mainly to grass with views over neighbouring farmland and distant valleys. It is not overlooked and is very sunny all day. The SWIMMING POOL is a professionally fitted in-ground one and is heated to 28C. It is 26ft x 16ft and 6ft 6in max depth with Roman end steps leading into it and a safety ledge all the way round. It is fully fenced and fitted with a gate with a lock. It is only 12 ft from the house. Children must be supervised at all times whilst in the house, garden and around the pool.
This is a wonderful property for any type of holiday, relaxation, touring, swimming, cycling, walking or just having fun.
