This charming cottage set in grounds of over 1 acre amongst peaceful countryside, is approached from a quiet country lane and offers spacious accommodation all on ground level. The large lounge has exposed oak beams and ample comfy sofas, 2 double bedrooms (2 with double beds) and 1 sofa can provide you a extra double bed) all with fitted wardrobes, well equipped kitchen/diner, utility room with fridge, dishwasher and washing machine, bathroom and separate WC. French doors open onto the south west facing rear terrace overlooking the garden, panoramic views of the surrounding fields and forest. The terrace, bathed in warm evening sun, offers a relaxing spot to unwind and watch spectacular sunsets with a glass or two of local wine. Tables chairs and a barbecue are provided for alfresco meals. The historic towns of Ste Foy la Grande and Bergerac lying on the river Dordogne are both within a short drive. The busy market town of Ste Foy la Grande is just 8 kms from the house and has a wide range of shops, banks, boutiques and numerous restaurants. The popular Saturday morning market is not to be missed, followed by a leisurely lunch in one of the pavement cafes around the picturesque Town Square. Bergerac, formerly the principal town of the Dordogne, is just 15 minutes drive and boasts the famous statue of Cyrano de Bergerac. The cobbled streets of the old town lead down to the river Dordogne where you can take a trip on a converted tobacco barge and watch the resident kingfishers and herons. An abundance of pavement cafes and restaurants provide a wide range of culinary delights and customary liquid refreshment in the form of local wines from the region. 18 holes of golf at the beautiful Chateau des Vigiers, and Lac de Gurcon with its sandy beach, are both nearby.
The interior has been restored and furnished to a very high standard. All of the rooms are light and very spacious; the house has two large bedrooms, one bathroom, a main salon, T.V. room and a fully equipped and modernised kitchen. There is an abundance of wildlife and unusual bird species which arrive during the summer months. You may catch a glimpse of deer, wild boar, red squirrels, beech martens, hoopoes and golden orioles which inhabit the locale.
