La Grange de Maudure
This 18th century Perigord farmhouse is on a South facing hill overlooking a pretty listed village. It has been refurbished and decorated to a good standard and has oak beams and stone walls throughout. It unusually provides an extensive 4 bedroomed home without the extra cost of a private pool and is ideal for a larger group or two families sharing. The nearby town has a large pool plus there are many river beaches. There is a well equipped kitchen with fridge, gas cooker, fitted units and microwave with a further second kitchen equipped to the same standard which can be used for breakfasts. There are two living areas – a very large open planned room with comfortable chairs and occasional tables at one end and a dining table and chairs at the other. The other living room has the morning sunshine streaming through the window and is tiled with beams and a lower ceiling. It has a large fireplace and wood-burning stove making it cosy 'out of season' and an oval pine table and chairs, very comfortable settee and 2 leather chairs, plus television (not satellite), stereo and video. It also has a stereo system. There is a double room with en-suite bath, toilet and shower and a twin bedroom with french windows leading to the back terrace also en-suite with a separate toilet and bathroom with shower and shaver point. The other bedrooms are upstairs via the large living/dining room and consist of a double bedroom and a further twin room with fitted cupboards. There is also a third separate bathroom with shower. Surrounding the farmhouse is an extensive English style garden with large lawns and herbaceous borders plus fruit trees totalling about an acre. The large iron gates leading to the house and the front wall enclose the house from the road. There is also a swing and to the far side a grass tennis court, which is ideal to ‘knock about’ but not suitable for keen tennis players who should use the village tennis court. There are two large terraces – a very large back Terrace which commands superb views of the surrounding countryside and village. The terrace also has a pergola for shade and a built-in barbecue. The side terrace has a french door leading from the main kitchen and runs along the side of the house and outbuildings. This second terrace benefits from the evening sun. Both terraces have table and chairs, sun umbrellas and loungers as well as outside lights for meals outside. Practical Information: The Farmhouse has duvets, blankets, English pillows and bedspreads. Linen and towels must be requested separately on booking if required and there is a small charge. All electrical sockets are French so make sure you take converters. English papers can be bought in Verteillac plus Radio 4LW can be listened to clearly.
