Gritti-Pearse
The villa was only built three years ago in the Languedoc style and is well equipped for families. In the summer life is spent outside both on the extensive terrace and around the large 9m x 4.5m pool. The summer kitchen is a covered area with a large stone-built barbecue- perfect for long lunches in the shade.
The main house consists of a very large (37m2) dining/sitting room- with a family sized table which can easily seat 12, the two double french doors look out on to terrasse and pool as well as the countryside. There is satellite TV (English and French channels) and DVD player (with a small selection of DVDs) as well as a PS2 with selction of games.
The kitchen is open plan and well equipped with a large fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob and a dishwasher. Completing the downstairs accomodation is the first double bedroom with ensuite- double basin and a shower. The bedroom also opens on to the terrasse.
Upstairs there are a further two double bedrooms with superb views over the local countryside, as well as a further bedroom with a single bed (additional put-up bed available). The family bathroom has a bath with shower and there is an upstairs as well as downstairs toilet.
The facilities are completed with the garage where the washing machine is kept along with four sunbeds and pool cleaning equipment.
The pool is the jewel in the crown- 9m x 4.5 and is 1.1 m at the shallow end and 1.7m at the deep end with a built-in seating area, beautiful in sun and in the evening when the lights are on.
The villa is located right in the heart of the Corbieres surrounded by vineyards and with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and local castle. The villa has the benefit of being in a quiet location set at the edge of the village at the end of a lane. 10 mins walk from the centre of the village which has a baker and mini-market. There is also post office, pharmacy and small local bar as well as the local wine co-operative.
The area has plenty to see and do for everyone- beautiful wide sandy beaches less than half an hour away, the Pyrennes less than an hour and for the more adventurous Barcelona is approx 2.5 hrs.
This is on top of the unmissable visits to Carcassonne, Abbaye de Fontfroide and the Canal du Midi at Narbonne. There is also the superb wildlife reserve at Sigean and locally the Port de Gruissan has a large selection of restaurants and bars.
