This is our home in winter and consequently all the facilities are a class higher than other rental properties. Languedoc Roussillon is the sunniest mainland region in France with average temperatures during the main letting season of May (21deg), Jun (25 deg), Jul (28 deg), Aug (27 deg) and Sep (23 deg).
Built in 2008, the villa is set in a well-established small development of twenty houses originally built in the 70's. Homps is one of the more popular villages on the Canal du Midi but still retains a calm air. There is a local English-speaking maintenance man easily contactable.
A recent visitor wrote - 'We had a super three weeks holiday in Homps Villa in 2010. The villa itself was extremely well situated with easy access to a very good road network to explore this beautiful part of France. We were spoilt for choice of very good restaurants some at walking distance and others just a few miles away. The amenities both inside and outside the villa were of a very high standard which added to a very relaxed holiday. We hope to book again in 2011.'
Downstairs there is a large fully-fitted kitchen which opens into the lounge and a beautiful stone fireplace and wood-burning stove. There are three leather settees/chair and sliding doors lead from the lounge into a sun lounge which faces south and runs across the front of the villa. There are two large bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs with two further bedrooms and a shower room upstairs. All bedrooms have double beds and there is an additional single bed and bed-sofa available.
Full aircon (essential in July and August) is in the lounge, kitchen and all bedrooms. There is a WIFI broadband connection, WIFI printer (for Ryanair boarding pass print etc), Sky TV and two DVD players with several DVDs.
Outside, the front courtyard has space for four cars and there is an enclosed fully paved courtyard with pool at the rear. A side gate provides full security at the rear. The rear courtyard has an outside dining area shaded with a pergola, barbecue and four loungers. The 10x4 pool has steps, a shallow end and a deep end.
The village is fully self sufficient with three restaurants and a bar/restaurant on the canal side and a large supermarket open all year which includes a butcher and filling station. There are ten Michelin-starred restaurants within 30 mins with a recently awarded 3 star restaurant in the Corbieres.
There are mountains to the north (Minervois) and south (Corbieres) with some lovely beaches about 25 mins away. A nearby lake provides swimming and water sports. Golf is at Beziers and Carcassonne.
Narbonne, Carcassonne and Beziers are all about 25 mins away. The A61 Toulouse - Narbonne autoroute is 15 mins away.
An extensive guide provides all details of the villa and places to visit and eat and there are many brochures available.
