‘La Cachette’. Sleeps 3 Access up external stairs. Patio at front with BBQ built into the wall. 1st floor: Well equipped kitchen / dining area with electric cooker and fridge freezer and an large old fireplace (not in use). Lounge area off to one side with sofa bed, and patio doors to the balcony area at the front of the house. There is a garden table and chairs for use on the balcony. There is a small single bedroom off back of lounge. Narrow original spiral stone staircase to the 2nd floor.
2nd floor: Main double bedroom with a queen size bed. The room has outlooks to both sides of the house. Bathroom and toilet with shower in bath. Landing with washing machine in cupboard.
Sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers, bath towels and table-clothes will be provided and will be at the house when you arrive. There are duvets and pillows at the houses for all the beds. It is advisable to take your own beach towel for either swimming in the local river, or for swimming in the Mediterranean, which is not far away. There is a CD / tape player, and we have left a few CDs and tapes for people to use. Sorry no TVs! There is also a supply of English books to read should you need one. There are 2 boule sets and a few board games for quests’ usage.

Location
Bize Minervois is situated just south of the Black Mountains and the Languedoc Regional National Park, on the edge of the flat plain of the Minervois wine region, and close to the famous Canal du Midi.

The Mediterranean beach resorts of Narbonne-Plage and Gruissan are only 40 minutes away. The Pyrenees Mountains and the Spanish border are less than a 1 & 1/2 hour drive. The new bridge at Millau is under two hours away.

Despite being a small village, Bize has a wide range of local shops, which include a bakery, a butcher, 2 mini markets, a pharmacy, a specialist confectioners, 2 hairdressers and a beauticians. There is café in the main square and three restaurants in the centre of the village, with 2 additional restaurants in the sub commune of Cabezac, a mile away. There is also a medical centre and a local cinema in the village hall. A tourist train runs in the summer months to Narbonne. Bize has a local village market on Wednesday.

Local activities include river swimming, cycling, canoeing, walking, tennis, horse riding and boating. And of course many opportunities for wine tasting of local Minervois, Corbieres, and St Chinian wines!

There are numerous medieval castles, abbeys and villages from the Cathar period in the area. The most impressive of these are Carcassonne Cité, Minerve and the wonderful castle of Queribus, Perepertuse and Lastour. The famous Canal du Midi is ten minutes away. There are also numerous caves (grottes) in the region. There are also many varied Mediterranean beach resorts and yacht basins along the coast, which have wonderful sandy beaches.

By train / car

Eurostar from Waterloo London connects at Lille or Paris with the TGV direct to Narbonne. Narbonne is also a destination for the car/rail service. From there Bize is about 20 minutes drive. Nearest motorway exits are A9 Bezier (36), A9 Narbonne South (38), or A61 Lezignan (25).
