Maison des Artistes
Our historic home in Provence is 200-years-old with exposed stone walls, a lovely garden and swimming pool. The 2-story house is located in western Provence near the Languedoc border with 2000 years of roman history. Close to all major attractions, including the Pont-du Gard, Avignon, Arles and Les Baux. The house has provencal character, large light-filled rooms, wood and stone floors and provencal furnishings and has been popular as an artist retreat. We are a French-American family and this is our family home and furniture. Want to experience typical life in the south of France? You will feel at home in ours and truly become a part of village life for less than the cost of an hotel. Ideal for children, who can play in an enclosed garden, swim in the pool or enjoy the freedom to walk in a safe village. Wake up each morning to the sun and views of the historic church tower. Stroll across the town square to buy fresh croissants and bread, and have coffee in the garden. Or have a morning swim in the pool. Welcome to the south of france where we enjoy life each day. Walk to all village shops, no car needed. Towels & linens included, no extra cleaning fee. The bedrooms are very large and comfortable, are on the second floor and have unobstructed garden views. The master suite has an adjoining entertainment lounge with small living room, study and TV, CD, DVD, sofas and futon. The master bedroom has Louis Philippe furnishings and moroccan decor to match the master bathroom. All other bedrooms have double beds, one has two twin. Our son's room has a drum set, fun for kids. The eat-in kitchen opens to the garden. The formal dining room seats 10 easily. The living room runs the full length of the house, has terra cotta stone floors and exposed stone walls and a piano. Provencal art, furnishings and antiques are simple, authentic and comfortable. Swimming pool has secure cover for children. The cabana has a summer kitchen and barbeque next to the pool. The house is conveniently located for touring the most interesting cities and attractions in two regions: Provence and Languedoc. Located in the largest wine-growing region in France, visit caves and vignerons in nearly every direction. Play boules across the square or go hiking in the nearby hills. Wildflowers and plane trees line the roads. Spend the morning visiting Avignon or Arles in Provence, then visit the beach at Le Grau du Roi or La Grande Motte in the Languedoc. The Camargue's white horses and black bulls are only a 5 min drive from the house. The dynamic city of Montpellier offers world-class shopping and entertainment. La Comedie is a great destination for shopping, people watching and ice cream. Nimes has the colisseum and a summer festival each thursday night next to the 2000-year-old Maison de Carre and Nimes contemporary art museum. Please enjoy our family home, we welcome you.
