Maison des Artistes
LOCATION IS EVERYTHING WHEN YOU ARE ON VACATION!!! Have the tranquility of the countryside with the convenience of a location that is close to all of the cultural sites and the beach! A former artist residence, Maison des Artistes is our 200-year-old historic home with swimming pool at the border of Provence and Languedoc--excellent for touring. Spend the morning in Provence visiting the Palace of the Popes in Avignon, have lunch in cultural Arles then relax at the sandy beaches of Languedoc at La Grande Motte or Le Grau du Roi. PRICES HAVE BEEN REDUCED FOR 2010!! We are a French American family and this is our own home that we share with guests, not a sterile rental property. Our house is family friendly and great for large groups. Provencal artwork and furnishings are throughout the house; exposed stone walls and terracotta floors are typical of the region. Want to experience typical life in the south of France? You will feel at home in ours and truly become a part of village life for less than the cost of an hotel. Ideal for children, who can play in an enclosed garden, swim in the pool or enjoy the freedom to walk in a safe village. Wake up each morning to the sun and views of the historic church tower. Stroll across the town square to buy fresh croissants and bread, and have coffee in the garden. Or have a morning swim in the pool. A short walk to all village shops, no car needed. Visit the cinema, cultural center or tennis courts. The 5 bedrooms sleep 10 are very large and comfortable and have unobstructed garden views from the second floor. The master suite has an adjoining entertainment lounge with sofas, TV, CD, DVD, and a study with a small library. The master bedroom has a grand double bed and moroccan furnishings to match the master bathroom decor. Two full bathrooms have bathtub, shower, sink, toilet and bidet (master). There are 2 half bathrooms with toilets as well. All other bedrooms have double beds, one has two twins. Our son's room has a drum set, fun for kids. Towels & linens included. All windows have screens. Clothes washer/dryer included. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and opens to the garden. The formal dining room seats 10 easily and has provencal china. The living room runs the full length of the house, has terracotta stone floors and exposed stone walls and a piano. Provencal art, furnishings and antiques are simple, authentic and comfortable. Swimming pool has secure cover for children. The cabana has a summer kitchen and barbeque next to the pool. The house is conveniently located for touring the most interesting cities and attractions in two regions: Provence and Languedoc. Located in the largest wine-growing region in France, visit our village winery. The natural parc of the Camargue has white horses, black bulls and is only a 5 min drive from the house. The dynamic city of Montpellier offers world-class shopping and entertainment. La Comedie is a great destination for shopping, people watching and ice cream. Nimes has the coliseum and a summer festival each thursday night next to the 2000-year-old Maison de Carre and Nimes contemporary art museum. Our favorite day is a visit to the 2000-yr-old Roman Pont du Gard for a swim in the river under the bridge, then a stop at the Haribo candy museum (fun for adults too) before lunch in Uzes, one of the region's most beautiful towns. For reasonable prices, you can stay near to the most interesting ares in southern France. There is more to do within a 40-minute drive than anywhere else. We welcome you!
