La Maison Rose
Situated on the outskirts (within 10mins walking time) of the market town of La Chatre in Central France (Department 36), “La Maison Rose” is a uniquely styled one bedroomed cottage which sleeps two people. The elevated south facing sunroom which overlooks the garden and river is a lovely place to sit at any time of the day. The comfortable kitchen is very well equipped with an electric range cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board, and ample crockery and cutlery. Tea towels are provided. Upstairs there is a stylish bathroom and a bedroom which overlooks open countryside.
The cottage is set in a large mature garden which is bordered by the River Indre and the garden is visited by a variety of wildlife, lizards, frogs, bats, butterflies, red squirrels, coypus and even pine martens. One can see a variety of birds including stone chats, black caps, gold finches, green finches, woodpeckers both green and spotted, heron and heard for the first time this year (May 2011) the nightingale. 10% discount on bookings of 2 or more consecutive weeks.A refundable Security deposit of £100 is required at the time of final payment, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection) and less any electricity charge.
Electricity is charged at 12p per unit. The first 50units are free of charge. Electricity charges will be deducted from the Security deposit.
All linen is included in the price. Due to the layout of the property we regret that it is unsuitable for young children or the infirm. The river is deep and there is no barrier between it and the garden.
This is a pet free and smoke free property.
The town of La Chatre, which is only 5 minutes from the cottage, has numerous bars, restaurants (French, Italian, Chinese), patisseries, charcuteries, boutiques etc. Market day, Saturday morning, turns the normally quiet town in to a buzz of activity as people arrive from miles around. Leave the car at the cottage and take the short walk to the town centre. There are also 3+ good supermarkets to choose from, one within walking distance of the cottage. La Chatre has an indoor/outdoor swimming pool. The village of Nohant is only 5minutes drive away and was the home of George Sand the female author whose friends included Chopin (her lover), Berlioz and Delacroix to name a few. Her chateau and gardens are open to the public and Nohant hosts many musical events. The surrounding countryside is flat and ideal for walking or cycling. There are many pretty little villages nearby to explore - the picturesque towns of Argenton-sur-Creuse, St Gautier, Gargilesse all within a 40minute drive. There are beautiful lakes and chateaux nearby Sarzay, St Chartier and Culan all within 20 minutes drive and the Brenne National Parc, famous for birdwatching, is only 60 minutes away. The nearest city is Chateauroux which has direct trains to Paris.  | | undefined |

Just wanted to say what a wonderful holiday we had in your cottage. We had a couple of rainy days where we lounged in the house and the rest of the week was scorching hot - so we lounged in the garden! Your garden was lovely and relaxing, we saw lots of butterflies, lizards, frogs bats, and birds. We saw the coypu twice and saw an owl too.
