Pouzauges is located south of the Loire Valley, north of Bordeaux/La Rochelle, an hour inland from Atlantic Coast beaches and only a few hours from Paris. It is also only 10 minutes drive away from the historic theme park of Le Puy du Fou. The region was featured at the start of the 2011 Tour de France.

The house can sleep up to six people over two levels (living with very comfortable double sofa bed and shower/toilet downstairs and whole of level bedroom upstairs with day bed/spare mattress). It is located in centre ville, just a few doors up from the main shopping square, the best boulangerie and pizzeria/ creperie in town and one of two 12th century churches in the village (which our house overlooks) and the remnants of the castle which belonged to the family of Bluebeard's wife is just up the hill overlooking the whole area.
