Bernicaille
Set in over 3 acres of mature gardens surrounded by open farmland on the edge of the village, Bernicaille enjoys a sheltered hillside site with wonderful south facing views.The gite has a separate entrance through the orchard and is not overlooked. The English owners, along with their two cats and three sheep maintain the gardens and sheltered pool area available to guests at all times. Their own house is also located here but does not directly overlook the gite or the pool area.This large detached gite has been recently modernised to offer a comfortable ‘home from home’ and is fully equipped for both indoor and outdoor living. It is an ideal base from which to explore the wider area. Relax and unwind, sit at the terrace and watch our sheep graze and a wide variety of birds, or venture into the historic local villages set amongst the vineyards of the Côtes du Brulhois for good food and local wine.
Ground FloorTiled throughout with a central corridor connecting all rooms. Living Room – Light and airy with French windows opening onto veranda and terrace area. Comfortable furniture, satellite television, DVD player and music centre. Dining table, games cupboard, bookcase. Kitchen – South facing, fully equipped with modern built in units and breakfast table with bench seats and chairs, dishwasher, gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave with crockery, cutlery etc. Bathroom – Large walk-in shower, toilet, washbasin built in a mirrored vanity unit with shaver point, hip bath with extra hand held shower. Separate WCLaundry Room – Small room with washing machine, iron, ironing board and drying frame. Bedroom 1 – Cool north facing room, double bed, pine furniture, electric towel rail. Outside The shaded terrace has a large table with chairs seating up to 8 people and takes full advantage of the south facing view. Fully tiled terrace with an adjacent barbecue. An external spiral staircase leads from the lower veranda to the upper veranda, which gives access to the first floor.

Activities Cycling is a real pleasure on the empty roads and hillsides of the Gers. A long distance footpath runs near the village – part of the route Saint Jacques de Compestella and other local routes are of interest. There are 3 golf courses within half an hour. Tennis courts are available within a few kilometres and the huge lake at St Nicholas de la Grave offers water borne pleasures. Good water parks and indoor pools can be found at Golfech and Valence d’Agen. The truly adventurous can try out the karting track or a microlight flight from Caudecoste just 15 minutes away. Gascony is renowned for its food – local specialities include foie gras, magret de canard and tarte tatin. Wines from this area are available direct from the producers at reasonable prices. The owners can provide all the local details.

By Road Nearest motorway access just 2km from exit 8 of the A62 Autoroute des Deux Mers, between Bordeaux and Toulouse. We are 600 miles from the main ferry ports allowing visitors to drive to Bernicaille in just under a day using the French motorway system. If you have the time, use the free Routes Nationale and explore towns and villages along the way. By TrainNearest TGV link is the station at Agen (25km) – 4 hours to Paris by regular service to London. By AirToulouse – 1 hr (68km). Easyjet, Jet2, BA Bordeaux – 1 hr 45 mins (100km).
