La Belle Vue
This is an exceptional property, newly renovated to a very high standard but with a speical awareness for the character of the property. It is full of the charm and features that offer an authentic holiday experience but with the comforts of a modern home. Our property is perched on the causses (hills) of the Natural Park of the Causses of Quercy (a park renowned for it’s natural beauty and outdoor opportunities). Centrally located in the park, it is in one of the oldest villages in the Lot - a fantastic example of beautiful French countryside and somewhere French traditions and are still very much alive. We are in the heart of the natural park, so literally from our door-step there are 1000’s of km’s of cycling, walking and nature trails, including a section of the famous Santiago Pilgrimage route. We are just 8 kms from the village of Cabrerets, a medieval village which not only houses one of the oldest buildings in Lot (7th century) but a beautiful 15th century chateau is set in the limestones cliffs above the stunning Cele Valley. The village is magic in itself, full of unusual semi-troglodite houses, a beautiful river valley with swimming, kayaking and rock-climbing opportunities (amongst other activities). In Cabrerets there is also a pre-historic cave network with paintings dating back 30,000 years and is one of very few such examples in the world that is open to the public. We offer bikes and canoes free with the rental of our property. A great opportunity to explore the nearby attractions.
Close-by the area is dotted with beautiful medieval villages but one of the most beautiful villages in France has to be St Cirq Lapopie (just 14kms from us). The village is perched high on the cliffs above the Lot river with a 13th century ruined chateau at the top. The cobbled alleyways with traditional half-timbered buildings now house an array of artisans studios, tastefully transformed to exhibit and sell a host of arts and crafts, pottery, jewellery, wooden carvings, etc. We are centrally located between the two mains ’cities’ of the Lot, 32kms from Cahors and 40kms from Figeac. Both are beautiful and interesting towns to visit.
