Le Tilluel was originally a post relay inn and is full of character and period charm. The house still contains many of its original features and is fully furnished with French antique furniture. The charente river is only 50 metres from the house.
You enter into a wide oak panelled hallway with stone floor. Off to the left is a beautiful oak panelled salon and then through French doors into the large and comfortable lounge. Walk through a further set of French doors onto the patio and outside eating area, BBQ and large private walled garden.
Off to the right of the hallway you enter into the cosy cherry wood panelled library and from there into the formal dining room which also leads into the rear kitchen area with back stairs leading to the bedrooms. At the end of the hallway, on the right there is the main kitchen/diner. The main stairs lead to a large and spacious landing with 6 double bedrooms and large family bathroom. The master bedroom has its own shower and vanity sink and two other bedrooms have their own vanity sink.
This town house could not be more conveniently situated. Once here there is no need for the use of a car as all amenities are within a few minutes walk from the house. Market days are Tuesday and Friday mornings where people from outlining villages and hamlets come together to shop and meet friends. Civray is also famous for its historic 11th century church which attracts many visitors from all over the world.
The town is also very well served by a tourist office which is situated just off the market square and where you can find out all the current events and activities in the surrounding area. Civray also has an abundance of shops ranging from newsagents, banks, post office, supermarkets, butchers, delicatessens, boulangeries, shoe and clothes shops, jewellery shops, antique shops and many bars and restaurants.
Civray also has a lovely park which runs beside the river Charente. A stroll through the park will take you to the local camp site which is open seven days a week and contains a restaurant and bar where you can eat lunch or dinner and during the summer there is often free entertainment over the weekends. You can also hire canoes, swim in the river or go fishing. In addition, a two minute walk from the house and next to the river is the very large open air swimming pool with diving boards, picnic area and a smaller pool for young children.
