Saint Savinien is a lovely town situated on the banks of the Charente river. It is popular as a tourist destination in itself because of the delights of the town and its immediate surroundings. A big attraction is the leisure island with its swimming pool, cycle paths, lake and picnic spots. The town has everything that is needed, including a supermarket, several restaurants, lovely art gallery, specialty shops, cinema, boulangerie and tabac.

The riverbanks and surrounding countryside is delightful and ideal for walking or cycling. La Rochelle with its old harbour, Saintes with its Roman remains and Rochefort with its Maritime Heritage are just a few of the attractions of the area. The coastal resorts provides wonderful opportunities to swim, walk or cycle and for the connoisseur there are a wealth of restaurants to sample the famous seafood of the area.Our house in Saint Savinien is located on the hill close to the church. The stone facade with blue shutters belies the size of the house. Downstairs is a living and dining room with a table seating six people. It is comfortably and tastefully furnished with a mix of vernacular antique furniture from South Africa and contemporary pieces. Original art and ceramics by the potter-owner adds a personal touch to the house.

The kitchen is equipped with cooker, fridge-freezer, convection microwave, washing machine and dryer. Still awaiting modernization, the kithen nevertheless has everyting needed. A table and four chairs makes it a pleasant place to have breakfast! There is a cloakroom downstairs with toilet and handwash basin. Upstairs are a big landing, two double bedrooms and a modern, recently installed bathroom with bath and shower. Both rooms have double beds and are well equipped. At the back of the house the small courtyard provides the ideal space for al fresco dining under the lilac tree in the summer. The gate from the courtyard leads to the back of the property where there is ample off-street parking available.

The house is attached to a barn that still awaits restoration and is presently used for storage.
Pricing is based on occupation by two people. 
Bedlinen and bath-towels can be provided at at a cost of £20 per room if required. That will include the bedlinen and one bath-towel and face-towel per person. No beach-towels are provided.
