Chez Roi
Situated in the Charente region of France, yet close to the border of the Dordogne and Haute-Vienne, our beautifully converted farmhouse accomodates upto 10 people. Sleeping accomodation consists of 4 spacious bedrooms, one with ensuite. The two largest rooms have double beds and the further two have two single beds in each. There is also a cot, folding bed and sofa beds if further sleeping accomodation is required. Surrounded by countryside and small villages it makes an ideal base for walking, mountain biking, horse riding, wine tasting, canoeing, fishing, golfing and site seeing. The 4-bed house, located in Les Labourieres, is open plan with a spacious dining/kitchen area and lounge with fireplace. The hamlet is 10 minutes walk from the quiet village of Montemboeuf where you will find all the essentials you’ll need. We’re only 15 minutes drive from the pretty town of La Rochfoucauld with its chateau and full range of shops, bars and restaurants and a few minutes away from the leisure lake at Lavaud.

Babysitting services are available from a local english company, 'sillybillysbabysitting'.
Eating Out: A variety of good restaurants about 10 minutes drive away and a selection of restaurants and supermarkets in Montbron and La Rochefoucauld, each 15 minutes drive. Golf: 10km away in Rouzede there is a 18 hole golf course. The is also a course 30 minutes drive away at St Junien, 1 in Angouleme (35 minutes drive), 2 in Limoges (45 minutes drive) and one in the stunning area of Cognac around 1 hours drive. Shopping: Local shopping in Montemboeuf, a few minutes away and Montbron and La Rochfaucald, each 15 minutes drive. There is also a large shopping centre at Angouleme about 40 minutes drive with its ramparts and winding mediaeval streets, vast array of bars and superb restaurants and historic buildings. Sports: The nearby leisure lake at Lavaud offers scenic picnic sites, sandy beaches, swimming (safe bathing area with gentle beach), sailing, mountain biking, hiking, horse riding, canoeing, fishing and Water skiing and has a fantastic adventure park for the children. There are two good bar/restaurants, both with beaches. Montemboeuf, only 10 minutes walk away also has an open air swimming pool or explore Nautilus, a large swimming and leisure complex in Angouleme. The Adventure Park (10 min drive) has a bungee jump and an adventure trail which is suspended totally in the trees, this is highly popular with children and adults. The Velo Rail is a fun but energetic day out for children and adults and this is at Roumazières-Loubert (20 min drive).
Other: The Charente has one of the richest displays of Romanesque art with all variations represented and a top quality programme of summer festivals and markets. There are also tours around the distilleries in Cognac and a variety of local vineyards and wine-tasting.

NAUTILUS Swimming and Ice-Skating Park: (25 mins drive)
Nautilis is a mixed family sports and leisure centre offering water sports and an ice-skating rink. There are two pools available to all ; indoor leisure pools (toboggan, jets, spas) and rooms for natural water and cardiac therapy. Outdoors there is the River Charente, wave pool, pentagliss as well as an inflatable structure of 17m.

In August every year Confolens hosts this international festival - a ten day event with troupes of musicians and dancers from all corners of the globe. After the organised stage shows, small groups of artistes can be found on the terraces and bars of the town until the small hours
