Chez-Bellevue
Chez Bellevue is a newly renovated traditional Provençal village house in Saignon, overlooking the town of Apt. It offers fabulous accommodation for 6 in total comfort with 3 large bedrooms. The house is located just 100 metres from the village centre, on a quiet street. Chez Bellevue is the perfect gite or residence secondaire for a holiday in the beautiful medieval village of Saignon and is available for vacation rentals. Saignon is perched at 500 metres on a Luberon mountain with a view of the beautiful town of Apt, Provence. Renown as one of the ten oldest villages in France, Saignon has a long and rich history predating the Roman period to prehistoric times. Saignon is now a village of 800 people. Life is centred at the Place de la Fontaine with the Auberge du Presbytere, a boulangerie, 5 restaurants and a few shops. Tourists visit Saignon for the ambience in and around the village square, the magnificent church and the stunning 360 degree views of the Luberon valley from the rock. You enter the three level Chez Bellevue from the street into a split-level, spacious living area. On the lower level, there are comfortable lounges and television with a Skybox. Up a couple of stairs into the open plan kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has all modern utilities in Provençal style. Alongside the kitchen is the dining area with views of the lavender fields that leave you breathless. From the living room you enter the terrace. This is a favourite place for petite dejeuner, al fresco dining or aperitifs. It has stunning views of lavender fields and the town of Apt, which lies in the valley below Saignon. On the upper floor is an open landing featuring a study with wifi and a small library. Also on this level is the large master bedroom with a king size bed, the second bedroom with a double bed and the main bathroom. All bedding has 100 percent cotton bed linen. From the living area, you wind down the stairs into the lower level of the house. Here you enter Bedroom 3. This is the original caved room of the house dating back to the birth of the village. There are two single beds at one end of the room and at the other end, a sitting area with television/dvd player. Also on the ground floor there is another bathroom and a laundry. Saignon is centrally located for touring Provence– visit the local villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste and Menerbes made famous in the book ‘A Year in Provence’ by Peter Mayle. Or go further afield to Roussillon, Gordes, Avignon, St Remy de Provence, Les Baux, Le Pont du Gard, Aix, Arles and Isle sur la Sorgue. Spend a day in Marseilles, on the Camargue or at the grand valley of Verdun.
Saturday morning markets in Apt – operating since the 12th century. It is considered to be one of the finest in France for its ambiance and authenticity. Wineries - visit the wineries of the Luberon Valley, Chateau Carnorgue (as in the Russell Crowe movie, "A Good Year"), Chateau de l’Isolette, Chateau de Mille and many more. Along with cycling, kyaking, hiking you can enjoy the beaches and fishing villages only 1.5 hours away.
