Isle sur la Sorgue centre ville
The town
At the northeast gateway to Provence and only 20 minutes by train, bus or car from Avignon (which is only 2.5 hours via TGV from Paris), Isle sur la Sorgue is known as the Venice of France with its many water ways and wheels. Our apartment is in centre ville and just around the corner are its many cafes/restaurants, boulangeries, shops and some of the 250 antique stores in town. The markets held on Sunday are the best in France.
The region
While there is plenty to do in town, buses go 100 metres away from our apartment to many local attractions including Fountaine de Vaucluse, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille (the start of the French Riviera) and Avignon. It is also close to Mont Ventoux (skiing, hiking) and villages of Rousillon, Gordes, Menerbes (Peter Mayle fame), La Coste (Marquis de Sade and Pierre Cardin chateau residence). Not too far away are other attractions including the Orange amphitheatre, Pont du Gard, Nimes, Arles and St Remy.
The apartment
Our apartment is located just around the corner from the main cafe/shop strip and although dating back to 1850, has recently been nicely renovated. It has one double bedroom, a separate large living area which can sleep another 3 people with a balcony off it through french doors (overlooking cafe square) as well as a separate toilet/shower and fully equiped kitchen/dining room.
Booking
A 150 euro deposit is required to confirm your booking and a 50 euro cleaning charge is payable per booking as well as a 250 euro refundable security deposit.
