The Bonnard Museum Villa
This is the closest villa to the new Bonnard Museum that opened 27 June 2011. Perfect for a holiday or the Cannes Film Festival, the villa is located at the top of Cannes's well-known Boulevard Carnot that directly connects it to Palais des Festivals. (10mn by taxi in 10 min, 20mn by direct bus N°1) The villa laid out over 3 levels has sea-views from the 2 upstairs bedrooms (each with 2 single beds or 1 king-size). The 3rd one at garden level has 2 single beds that can be turned into 1 kingsize bed as well. One room has a large bathroom en suite with bath(+hair-dryer); the 2nd one has a washbasin in a hidden cupboard (+ hair dryer). A spacious independent shower room with hydrotherapy massage shower (+ hair dryer). The 3rd bedroom has a bathroom with bathtub and toilet. The drawing room has a large Italian sofa bed that can sleep two more. The house has all modern amenities including full air-conditioning (5 units, one for each room), WiFi, satellite TV, plasma screen, HD recorder. Le Cannet, also called France's Madeira, is an old historical town between Mougins and Vallauris, on the hill overlooking the bay of Cannes; it has much to offer in terms of artistic life and has been the haunt of famous painters, especially Pierre Bonnard who is buried there (the new Bonnard museum was inaugurated there on 27 June 2011). It is for tourists who want to experience the genuine local life, the historical sites and get a taste of the local folklore in addition to visiting the French Riviera. The owner of the villa is a descendant of the 140 Ligurian families who, in the 15th century, came from Italy at the invitation of the monks of the Iles de Lerins (off Cannes) to cultivate their orange-trees. The genealogical tree on Place Bellevue still bears testimony to the adventure of the foundation of the village.
